In the ol' days, Sonny, I used to swim a mile every non-rainy day of the summer. Then babies came and the pool was no longer about me but about them: Is anyone drowning? How about now? Now?
Today, after a long time never swimming anywhere but Gramma's backyard kidney-shaped pool (and the beach), I joined us up at a local pool and swam my first laps in 15 years. Back feels SO good. Actually, I can't feel it at all -- I had forgotten what it was not to be aware at all times of one's back.
Thank you, God, for water. And lap lanes.
