He Doesn't Want To Save The Planet

Curtsy to Julie Ponzi over at NLT for this amusing Stanley Fish column about how tiresome environmentalism is. He goes along with it because his wife makes him, but the compliance is grudging, he'll have us know.

I don’t want to save the planet. I just want to inhabit it as comfortably as possible for as long as I have.

Gosh. That reminds me of a family friend who used to say (in jest I am certain) that he favored nuclear annihilation because he hated the idea that he would die and miss all the excitement. "I'd rather knock all the checkers off the board," he claimed. Tres humorous, but even moreso are the comments Fish draws. Sheesh.
