"Gramma" Doesn't Recognize "Uncle"

By almost anyone's account, if news stories are to be believed, the war in Iraq is almost won and al-Qaeda in Iraq is in disarray. No terrorist incidents on American soil or against American interests in 4.5 years. I'm sure you've seen the headlines over the past month. Incredibly, the Speaker of the House of Representatives attributes this to Iranian good will. Not to U.S. soldiers and their allies, and not to the Iraqi army.

Whatever the military success, and progress that may have been made, the surge didn’t accomplish its goal. And some of the success of the surge is that the goodwill of the Iranians-theydecided in Basra when the fighting would end, they negotiated that cessation of hostilities-the Iranians.

Thank Heavens for the German good will that made V-E Day possible! Imagine being an Iraq war amputee or widow and hearing such a thing!

I gather from an email talk radio's been spluttering about treason and the slander against our troops. Once I would have said the same thing -- that this was a function of Bush Derangement Syndrome and/or fanatical determination to win an election. Now I see something else. I had not realized before today the depth of the Dem leadership's loss of confidence in America. Not only do they think she's malign, they also think she's weak.
