Let the record show that tomatoes went into the ground (here's the bed pre-planting) this past Sunday, April 27. (I have a young neighbor who planted nearly ten days earlier, curse her!)
I exercised some restraint at the Franciscan Monastery plant sale this year: only four varieties. Although if they'd had any in yellow or orange I'd have cast caution to the wind, and I still might have to seek some out. (A tomato galette is prettier with color variation.) Ah, well. Made room for eggplant, peppers and shallots. In addition to all kinds of herbs, some of which you can see going berserk all on their own in the bottom corner there, paying no attention to the idea they're not supposed to winter well.
