Shakespeare's Catholicism?
Speaking of Shakespeare (as Charlton Heston just was in the previous post), there's been much scholarly interest of late in Shakespeare's Catholicism. I am reminded to post a link to an article I've mentioned before, an original interpretation of The Merchant Of Venice in which the author argues that Merchant is a covert Passion Play, the central feature of which is the Eucharistic sacrifice of the mass. It first appeared in Interpretation, now available here. Look for "The Unbloody Sacrifice."
