Remind Me Why We're Fighting Those Who Seek To Destroy The Possibility Of Liberty?

|
And tell me again why they're bothering to fight us when apparently they could just wait a few minutes?
  • "No-go" areas in Britain. Instafriend writes:
"I grew up in the segregated South in the 50s and early 60s. Turns out I was really living in the multicultural South. Who knew?"
  • They're still threatening to arrest bloggers there, by the by. (More on this particular blogger, who may be a revolting white supremacist --or at least be keeping company with same)
  • Mark Steyn reports on the prosecution of Ezra Levant (in Canada, for the crime of publishing the Danish cartoons; Levant's posting video of the process, Steyn has links). More here. And an excellent rant with links to all the videos here.
  • And more on the same from Powerline here.
  • Meanwhile, on December 30th there was a massive pro-family rally in Spain. Now the Spanish government is demanding Spanish bishops apologize for the rally. (We apologize for disagreeing with the government?)
I don't mean to be gloomy in spite of the post title; I think fighting these battles is an essential dimension of reclaiming the culture and I relish the fight (easy for me to say, I know), as evidently Levant and Steyn do, too. But attention, radicals & bland, right-thinking bureaucrats: this is what dissent and resistance actually look like. Not this. Or this.
