It is with sorrow and anxiety that I see that the 'sentire cum ecclesia' of which your founder frequently spoke is diminishing even in some members of religious families. The Church is waiting for a light from you to restore the 'sensus Ecclesiae.'

Rodé is prefect of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life. Some of the blogs are quoting selectively from the Cardinal's address in order to "zing" the SJs, but really he is calling them to live their original charism. The address doesn't strike me as an angry rebuke, but as a plea: we need you, you have the capacity to do this, rise up. Fantastic photos of the mass at the Gesú here.
