I wouldn't have thought there were enough Jews in Venezuela to scapegoat for the country's problems, but I would've been wrong.
Venezuelan government intelligence services twice have raided the country's most important Jewish center in a vague, ultimately unsuccessful search for weapons. Publications of the government's cultural ministry run articles entitled ''the Jewish Question,'' along with a Jewish star superimposed over a swastika.

One 2006 article in El Diario de Caracas debates whether it will be necessary to ''expel [the Jews] from the country.''
There were once about 30,000 Jews in Venezuela, but they've been fleeing the country --landing largely in Florida, apparently.

Freaky. Walker Percy considered the obsession of bad guys and conspiracy theorists with the Jews a mystical proof of their status as the Chosen people. Curtsy: The Corner.

Update, semi-related. Ms. Magazine just rejected a pro-Israel ad. Go look at it.
