Afghanistan Looking Up

|
The most recent reports I've seen about Afghanistan have been gloomy. There was lunch with my Afghan friend. And Michael Yon in August. And a truly alarming piece more recently I never got around to blogging about, suggesting the Taliban is on a slow but decisive march toward Kabul. And there have been the recurring reports of NATO nations not wanting to send troops and generally stooping to UN-like behavior (by which I mean dithering about command and strategy, not raping the natives). And Sunday's WaPo had a mixed report. But this morning Mr. W. sent me this story with its improbable lede:
Canada is winning the war in Afghanistan....
And Osama made another tape o' desperation. So I feel a wee bit better. (Although Walid Phares has a completely different take on the tape --he thinks it has little to do with Afghanistan.)
