Someone sent me this. I don't read German, but scanning for cognates, I think this says that the topic of the forthcoming papal encyclical is Hope --and not, as reported over the summer, a "social encyclical." (The stories this summer were about the Pope denouncing tax shelters.) Not that the two are mutually exclusive. I wouldn't be surprised if an encyclical on hope included some observations about sins against it, much as the recent encyclical on charity had some pointed teaching about politics. Bonus points if you can guess what the 3rd papal encyclical will be!
