Alas, my last home-grown tomato of the season has been consumed. Normally I'd have scads of fruit to look forward to until first frost, but the plants could not survive this region's drought, aggravated by my three-week absence at the end of summer.
Justice demands I admit I've been bested in tomato-blogging this summer by ninme (who's bragging about her tons of just-now-ripening tomatoes. Thbbpt). She has a digital camera which gives her an advantage (just look), but I still consider it shameful to be outdone in the tomato dept. by people in Idaho & Seattle.
My only solace is the peppers and herbs are doing well. And strawberry season, which usually ends in July, continues.
