Damned Principled Politician

Heaping flaming coals of opprobrium on the Vice President, the formerly Gray Lady digs up the minority report of the Iran-Contra committee (a google search reveals this line of argument is making the rounds, actually). You will be appalled to learn from that document that the Vice-President relies on the Constitution, the views of the Framers, and Supreme Court precedents for his understanding of Executive power, and his views have remained consistent during his entire career.

Mr. Wheat, who contributed to that report and "stands by it in every respect," is disappointed that neither he nor his boss at the time come under any censure from the formerly Gray Lady. Multiple authors, but only one bad guy, and a highly controversial topic is covered by a flaming liberal with no opposing or neutral defense. Could the Lady be playing politics?
