The Pope Is Tricksy!

He promulgated a motu proprio today. Not the one everyone's been speculating about: indeed, one no one seems to have contemplated or noticed. (I do take perverse delight when the Vaticanisti are shown up. Even when I share their inclinations, I hate it when people presume to know the Pope's business before he does, or talk about Church matters as if they were in the Senate cloak room.)

Summing up, he's returning to the old rule that it always takes a 2/3 vote to elect a pope (JP the Great allowed a simple majority after a certain number of ballots and three days' time). The Latin's available now, with translations coming to the same page. Fr. Z's commenters have far more to say on the matter than I'd have dreamed was possible.
