President Clinton's Surgeon General, Joycelyn Elders, got in hot water during her confirmation hearing for suggesting that abortion has had a positive health effect because it's well-nigh eliminated Down's Syndrome. What was shocking then is now the official policy of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists. Kind of old news, but I bring it up here because open book has helpfully collected three wonderful pieces about living with Down's Syndrome. Including one from George Will, who asks, What did Jon Will and the more than 350,000 American citizens like him do to tick off the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists?
UPDATE: Not directly related, but social scientists reveal that Jan 22 is the saddest day of the year. No kidding.
