The MSM line on Regensburg seems to be that it was all a PR gaffe. They think Benedict lacks JP the Great's charisma, but don't know he has JP's charism --which is all that counts. Researching something this afternoon, I ran across an old George Weigel article about JP II's political power --and what struck me was how similar (not different) Benedict's style is.
