My tomatoes aren't late, just patriotic --they waited for Independence Day weekend to ripen. First tomatoes of 2006 plucked today --"Boxcar Willies"-- with "Early girls" and "Mortgage killers" on the way. Hmm. BLTs for dinner? Nah. The first must be consumed raw, juice allowed to drip freely.
