Richard Reeb argues that sexual liberation has gone hand in hand with the growth of the nanny state. Freedom requires self-restraint, and self-restraint is the pre-condition for political moderation. Shake off self-restraint, and a whole host of previously unnecessary rules become necessary.
Virtuous men and women don't need and don't deserve to be treated like children who cannot make decisions for themselves and their families in the marketplace and workplace, in fraternal and religious associations, and in government and politics. But when the state joins in with myriad "liberated" interests and factions to assault the sexual constitution by legitimizing the not merely "gross" but the wholly misdirected sexual passions, the original constitution is at risk.
