The best joke I heard was at a dinner honoring Notre Dame philosophy teacher Ralph McInerney (and celebrating the foundation of an international school of philosophy named after him). After many laudatory speeches (including a fine one from Michael Novak), he prefaced his remarks thus:
Well, after such a long wake it's only fitting they produce the body.
