Archbishop Levada, Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, has ordered the Archdiocese of San Francisco to review its adoption policy (which currently allows same-sex adoptions). This story finds it odd that Levada seems to be rebuking his own policy, since he was Archb. of SF before being appointed to CDF. It is strange; but I have a feeling it tells us more about episcopal control over Catholic Charities than anything else. (See this post on Boston's policy --in which CC appears to be at odds with its bishops).
