The Formerly Gray Lady has a story today (curtsy: Powerline) on an intensifying split between Iraqi "insurgents" and al-Qaeda. The final page describes in gruesome detail a cycle of vengeful killings: al-Qaeda accidentally kills an Iraqi sheik, the man's tribe kills the killers; al Qaeda strikes again & a man going in search of his relative finds a brutally and bizarrely mutilated corpse, tracks down the killers and gives their kafiyas to the widow.
