Tuesday evening, Hubby & I dined with a friend from Calgary who was underwhelmed by the Canadian Conservative victory. He once ran for MP on the now-defunct Reform party ticket, and is perpetually disgusted with the Conservatives, considering them RINOS, to put it in terms familiar to us Yanks. He had nothing nice to say about Stephen Harper, and I went to bed with a damper on my spirits. But Mark Steyn strikes an optimistic note:
he's very secure in his sense of himself, and he has a very shrewd sense of what's politically possible. If he plays those cards right - and I'd bet he will - he could be, as Howard has been, one of those unflamboyantly transformative leaders who leaves the political landscape significantly altered.
Now I feel a little better. Curtsy: Queen of Links.
