Always Look On The Bright Side of Life

The writers I normally respect are full of gloom and doom with respect to the Hamas victory. I am no sort of expert, but aren't these the same Palestinians who rejected Hamas the first time they had a chance to vote? And doesn't that lend credence to this pollster's view?

A leading Palestinian pollster says Hamas' victory in Palestinian elections last week had less to do with the militant group's hard-line posture toward Israel than with voter anger against the long-ruling Fatah party founded by Yasser Arafat.

If the Palestinians were simply anti-Semite thugs, as some are now saying, Hamas should have swept to victory in the first election, no? I'm not saying that Hamas isn't evil --just that I'm not convinced they'll have such an easy time carrying out all their evil plans. Even the people dancing jubilantly on 9/11 were all in Western dress: heads uncovered, Spiderman t-shirts. I doubt they're going to be pleased by efforts to impose Shar'i'a. (Glimmer, glimmer?)

UPDATE: See? How are they going to accomplish this?
