Is "Wired Living" Really Living?

|
The Fighting Eyeball calls my attention to a discussion in the NYT's technology email about why the "Wired Living Room" (connecting the PC, TV, etc.) concept hasn't really taken off. Like him, I enjoyed this response:
The connected home is a useless idea (as it stands) because the connected family pretty much doesn't exist, and the digital living room is a stupid idea because most families don't hang out in their living rooms. They hang out in their kitchens. If one of these electronics companies could come up with 'The Disconnected Home' or the 'Quiet Living Room,' I might be more interested.

Incidentally, in common with ninme, my parents and Barbara Nicolosi, TFE gives The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe movie his nod of approval. I'm not allowed to see it until the whole family's in town, as it's to be an "event," but if people with tastes that diverse all like it, it has to be worthwhile.
