Moot Point

I was out pontificating all day yesterday and never got to read the alleged smoking guns against Harriet Miers. The announcement of her withdrawal came as I was reading her speeches, so I'll spare you my comments. I continue to agree with Hugh Hewitt that Miers and the President have been ill-treated. I deeply regret that Conservatives may have managed to cement forever the legitimacy of "Borking." However, it must also be granted that the White House brought this on itself with the extremely poor political handling of the nomination.
If anyone cares, the view that comes closest to expressing my view comes from "The Chair" in this collection of posts. Scroll down to his October 25, 10:11 PM posting.
Miers' withdrawal letter (takes the Krauthammer way out); Bush's statement.
