Anne Rice, of whose blockbuster vampire novels I am wholly innocent (Well. Not wholly. I once use a paragraph from one in an article, but it was supplied me by a friend), returned to Catholicism in 1998 after a 30 year . .um. . .leave? Now she's at work on a series on the hidden life of Jesus, the first of which has just been published. She's also complaining publicly about "Christian" scholars who want to prove Jesus wasn't God, ("as if such a thing could be proven"), and who promote faddish notions of a married or political Jesus.
