The election's over, Merkel's party won. Sort of. And as I sign off, Schroeder is refusing to concede, so we'll see who's won in the morning. Michael S. Greve all but predicted this result in last week's Weekly Standard (subscription required). He says nothing can save Germany unless it reworks its post-war stop-us-before-ve-dominate-ze-vorld-again constitution, which allows no effective executive power.
