Bizarre, sad news: Br. Roger, founder of the Taizé community, was stabbed to death while presiding over a prayer service yesterday. I don't know much about Taizé other than that it's been an important ecumenical force since its founding --and that I am greatly attracted to their chants --which manage to sound ancient and contemporary simultaneously somehow. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.
And not to pile on the bad news, but it's official: the two-parent family has been eclipsed by the single-parent family as the majority U.S. family household. W. Times has the story on their front page, but their site appears to be down at the moment. Look here for the link later.
