Mexico has its own torrid history of racial prejudice (to this day, many Mexicans are a little too ready to assert their Spanish --as opposed to Indian-- descent). Nevertheless, give me a break, people. Race groups in the U.S. are denouncing a Mexican stamp because its cartoon is from the Jim Crow era? What Jim Crow era did Mexico ever have? Good for Mexico for not backing down. Gotta love their rebuttal: "Just as Speedy Gonzalez has never been interpreted in a racial manner by the people of Mexico. . . ."
