A few years ago the W. Post Food section ran a little article on the logic behind menus --why certain items are placed where they are is a fascinating semi-science. Sharing a ride home from a party once, I spoke with a diaper salesman and learned that diapers go on sale to coincide with the arrival of WIC checks in various areas. How I love it when an article offers real insight into a world I know nothing about.
That's why I loved this piece on the men constructing the new Wilson Bridge; there's a whole world here. (Especially loved the foreman getting teary-eyed when someone reads his Steelworker poem-manifesto aloud!).
