That's the hot rumor flying around among RC2's chancery spies: that Chaput will be named head of the Archdiocese of Washington when Cardinal McCarrick retires later this year. Yummy. We'll see; spies aren't always correct. It would be nice to have Chaput overseeing a diocese in a major media market, where his teaching would draw more notice.
